New day, new sushi place discovery – coincidentally called the New Asia House! The New Asia House is by no means a new restaurant. It has been on Quaker Lane in Warwick since September 2016. While their website isn’t particularly modern or informative, you can get a lot of information about the via Yelp.

We discovered New Asia House because our usual spot, Ye Express, is closed because of the virus. Our more recently-discovered sushi place, Khoo, opens at noon and we weren’t sure that they would be open on Easter. On our extreme hike around the neighborhood that consisted of 10 miles, we were desperate for sushi. Google told us that New Asia House is open on all holidays, so we gave them a call the moment they opened at 11 AM.

Sure enough, they were offering take-out and we ordered our usual veggie rolls: sweet potato and avocado. They also had something that we had never heard of: a fried broccoli roll! We had to take it easy because we’re trying to get back in shape. So this time, we avoided the temptation of getting dim sum, udon noodles and fried ice cream. You can see the full menu here. But boy do these other options look scrumptious!

Was it Good?

We picked up our order on foot and walked it home. It was a treacherous and not particularly scenic walk, but the sushi acted as a carrot and pushed us along like hungry donkeys. When we finally got home, we had some mixed opinions about the order we received.

Turned out that New Asia House is incredibly cheap compared to Khoo and similarly priced to Ye Express when it comes to veggie rolls. The rolls had generous amounts of filler and less rice, just the way we like them. However, the sweet potato rolls were super bland, even with the two dipping sauces and the soy sauce that we got with out order. These were disappointing but the avocado and broccoli rolls made up for it.

We will definitely be back to try some more types of sushi and definitely the dim sum. Once dining in is a thing again, we are also curious about their hibachi! It is great to know that they are open year round and have tasty options for a great price. However, we will definitely not be ordering the bland sweet potato rolls again. Overall, it was still great and we can’t wait to experience more!
