Stephen King’s The Institute is one of Stephen King’s latest releases, and it proves that the master of horror and science fiction is not out of steam yet! He keeps churning out voluminous masterpieces – and The Institute doesn’t disappoint.
I’ll only give a small snapshot of a Goodreads summary, because in my opinion it gives away too many spoilers:

The book’s main protagonist is a a 12-year-old boy genius named Luke Ellis. Growing up, he noticed that sometimes, when he gets angry or scared, he could make things move with his mind. This telekinetic ability catches the attention of the sinister staff at the Institute, a facility in an unknown location in which children with telekinetic and telepathic abilities are imprisoned.
We don’t find out what the children are being held for until later on, creating a mystery that keeps you turning the pages. As more and more clues are dropped, the reader becomes increasingly intrigued about what the staff at the Institute are planning.
Luke meets several other children at the institute and forms strong friendships, from the sassy yet kindhearted Kalisha to the tender yet powerful Avery. Together, they try to unlock the secrets of the Institute.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Stephen King, ever since I picked up The Girl Who Loved tom Gordon in 6th grade. I went on to tackle The Stand, Insomnia, Carrie, and of course, King’s magnum opus – The Dark Tower. Though nothing Uncle Steve writes will ever come close to the epic masterpiece of The Dark Tower, he’s still got a knack for keeping us “Constant Readers” coming back for more.
Chilling, heart-wrenching, exciting and mysterious, The Institute is a book any Stephen King fan will love. If you’ve never read Stephen King, you’ll still enjoy it. However, I’d recommend a few others, like The Dark Tower and The Stand, before you dig into this one.
