Think Dirty is an app available for iOS and Android that tells you more about your products’ ingredients. Their database has over 850,000 cosmetics and personal care products, so you can just scan the barcode to see what’s inside!
About Think Dirty App
Think Dirty will alert you of any potentially toxic ingredients. It is an independent source, so it will allow you to compare products without any bias. Not only will the app let you know if there is an ingredient that isn’t safe, but it will also give you some easy-to-understand information about the product.
There are several things you can do with this app. The first is to ‘measure’ the product using the Dirty Meter. This is a comprehensive rating and detailed information about the ingredients, certificates, and health impacts. So many popular products seem to be safe, but things are not always as they seem!
Another great function of Think Dirty is My Bathroom Rating. This can help you keep track of what’s already in your bathroom and see how you can ‘clean’ it up. I am super curious to do this and see how clean all my products are. I’ve gone from doing a lot of research to make sure products were cruelty-free to being more spontaneous with FabFitFun. I’ll be adding a Dirty Meter rating to my future purchases!

Of course, Think Dirty’s goal isn’t just to scare you away from using any products whatsoever. The goal is to help you understand the ingredients that are in your products and make better choices in the future. The app has a super easy Shopping Lists function that can help you save products for easier shopping in the future. It also lets you buy products right away, directly through Amazon, Sephora, and Well.ca.
Think Dirty Beauty Box
The company has also jumped on the subscription box bandwagon. This box contains 8 to 10 hand-picked luxury beauty items that are rated clean! It is valued at over $300, and you can get it for just $129. However, if you pay upfront for 12 months of boxes, you will only pay $69.95 a month!
These products seem not all to be quite zero-waste, but they are not all heavy on the plastic either. You can get information about all the products included here.
For something a little cheaper, there is also the Clean Beauty Roulette Box. This will contain a selection of clean beauty goodies – a minimum of $150+ worth of beauty + wellness products, including makeup, skincare, and more!
Missing a Product?
If you find a product that isn’t’ part of the 850,000 items in their database, you can let them know. Simply scan the barcode and take a photo of the list of ingredients and submit it. Registered users who submit products will receive a thank you and get notified once added to the database.
