The Wives by Tarryn Fisher: Book Review

I read The Wives by Tarryn Fisher in a single weekend. This wasn’t one of those free-time weekends either. A lot of work was put off and the book came with me on errands. I almost shushed the cashier when it was finally my turn to pay at the grocery store. When I finally finished, I sat there, dumbstruck, processing what I just read. I don’t think I ever read a book with quite this many twists and turns. Colleen Hoover pinpointed exactly how this book made me feel in her quote on the front cover: “You’ll have whiplash until the very end.”

The Wives by Tarryn Fisher

New York Times bestselling author Tarryn Fisher delivers a pulse-pounding, fast-paced suspense novel that will leave you breathless. A thriller you won’t be able to put down!

Thursday’s husband, Seth, has two other wives. She’s never met them, and she doesn’t know anything about them. She agreed to this unusual arrangement because she’s so crazy about him.

But one day, she finds something. Something that tells a very different—and horrifying—story about the man she married.

What follows is one of the most twisted, shocking thrillers you’ll ever read.

You’ll have to grab a copy to find out why.

What I Loved

Everything. No really… everything. Every chapter had something new and exciting and confusing to analyze. When I say confusing, I mean it in a good way. If you’ve read my reviews then you know that I’m a lazy reader. Mary Higgins Clark books sometimes hurt my head in a bad way. Even less complex books sometimes have me skimming through the less exciting parts. That’s on me, not the books, but this did not happen with Tarryn Fisher’s novel.

Instead of skimming or even quick-reading, I found myself re-reading chapters to make sure I understood correctly. I was never bored and loved the fast pace of this book. I also love that even at the very end, when you think everything is solved, explained and tied up, something crazy happens. No, that is not a spoiler alert. You will NEVER see it coming.

What I Didn’t Love

Nothing really, this books was amazing. But if I had to pick something, it would be the protagonist. I had trouble relating to her, as many people might. In some ways this made me even more interested in the book, so it’s not exactly a fault. I just feel like I should try to find something imperfect so I’m not here drooling over a book… but I can’t really help myself.
