TwoTen Oyster Bar & Grill: $20 All-You-Can-Eat Sushi

Posted by

TwoTen Oyster Bar & Grill is known throughout Rhode Island for their amazing seafood. I discovered them because of their sushi Mondays ad for $20 all-you-can-eat sushi! While my regular sushi spot is priced well, $20 of sushi leaves me hungry in a few hours. This was not the case after all-you-can-eat sushi.

Since we don’t get out of work until 4:30 PM and had another appointment along the way, we didn’t get to the TwoTen Oyster Bar & Grill until 6:20 PM. We tried calling ahead, but as you can imagine, it was busy! We took the chance and drove 40 minutes one way just to check out this amazing deal.

Long Wait

When we got there, the parking lot was packed and we heard someone coming out saying, “the wait is 2.5 hours long!” Isaac and I looked at each other and sighed. But we went in anyway to see for ourselves. We could barely fit through the door with a line of people waiting to be seated. Many were drinking while they waited, standing up.

Since we were only two people, the hostess said that it could be about an hour. She pointed out that normally it would be less, but people stick around longer than usual since it’s all-you-can-eat. Waiting an hour would have only left us 15 minutes to order sushi, and there was a limit on how much you could get at a time. Not ideal… but we had already driven 40 minutes and needed our sushi fix. We agreed and signed up to get a text when they were ready for us.

Hungry and disappointed, we walked back to the car and decided to watch Netflix to pass the time. We started a new show and didn’t get too far in because after only 20 minutes, we got the text! It was a miracle. Our table was ready by 7:10 and our order was in soon after. If it had been earlier in the day, we would have had the most spectacular waterfront view.

The place was still ridiculously busy so we expected a long wait. We could only order three things each and there were some great choices to pick from.

They even have a veggie/vegan option for rolls! Plus the rice bowl and miso soup are also plant-based. We didn’t follow our usual diet this time and sampled the amazing fish. It was delicious and tasted super fresh.

Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and our first order was bigger than what we normally eat in a sitting. However, we wanted to make the most of our money so Isaac immediately ordered the next course. It was also 7:40 PM by the time this arrived and we didn’t want to miss our chance.

While we waited for the sushi we had seen people leaving uneaten sushi behind. We judged them so hard for wasting food. Unfortunately, part of the rules was that no one could take anything home with them. We were determined not to be those people. Then the second course came, at 8:15.

Needless to say, we didn’t finish and left seven pieces behind. It broke our hearts but it would have broken our stomachs more. Isaac had originally said it wouldn’t be worth it unless we got to order a third time. He takes that back now.

Before You Go

I highly recommend that anyone who loves sushi come to TwoTen Oyster Bar & Grill for this amazing $20 All-You-Can-Eat Sushi. Just keep in mind that it will be busy. The food will be amazing and filling. But the service will be slow. Our waitress apologized to us so many times, but there was no need. What do you expect when there’s all-you-can-eat sushi? Delicious chaos.

It looks like there will be at least nine more sushi Mondays, if not more. You can come as early as 4 PM and the sushi is served until 8 PM. If you’re still hungry after that, you can order each option for $5 until 9 PM. After that, the sushi chef leaves and I assume, hibernates until the next crazy Monday.
