It’s a strange time when most of the world is stuck indoors and people are either encouraged not to or not allowed to leave their homes. This is a great time to make a cup of coffee, tea, hot chocolate or all of the above and curl up with a good book. I highly recommend The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. It took me less than seven hours to devour the entire book and I’ve been trying to get others to read it ever since.
“Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word.”
Goodreads
The Silent Patient will capture your attention from the very first page. As you flip through the pages trying to get to the bottom of the protagonist’s silence, theories will form. The closer you get to the answers, the more unsure you will become of the truth. As any great psychological thriller, there will be twist after twist that will keep you guessing and hungry for more.
I find it really hard to review a book without giving away spoilers. So let me just tell you that I wasn’t the only one who loved it. It has 4.07 starts on Goodreads and was rated by one 285,000 people, almost 32,000 of which left reviews!
Fun fact: the author, Alex Michaelides was born in Cyprus and The Silent Patient is his first novel! You should consider adding this to your reading bucket list today! The Silent Patient is, of course, a New York Times bestseller. There are even rumors that it will be made into a movie!
