What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty: Book Review

What Alice Forgot, What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty: Book Review, The Travel Bug Bite

Today I received what I believe is the last Liane Moriarty book that I haven’t read yet. I ordered The Last Anniversary the moment I started reading Three Wishes. The author made her way into my heart the as I read my first book by her. Alice Forgot was a really great book and has stuck with since I read it over a year ago.

“Alice Love is twenty-nine, crazy about her husband, and pregnant with her first child. So imagine Alice’s surprise when she comes to on the floor of a gym and is whisked off to the hospital where she discovers the honeymoon is truly over — she’s getting divorced, she has three kids and she’s actually 39 years old. Alice must reconstruct the events of a lost decade, and find out whether it’s possible to reconstruct her life at the same time. She has to figure out why her sister hardly talks to her, and how is it that she’s become one of those super skinny moms with really expensive clothes.”

Goodreads

No, you are not experiencing déjà vu. This does sound a little like Before I Go to Sleep. However, it is far less sinister. I read What Alice Forgot after binging on psychological thrillers so I kind of expected it to go there. It is not a spoiler alert to say that it doesn’t, because this is a regular novel!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The book essentially explores the question: how much do our experiences shape who we are? Obviously, the answer is a lot! The book is written in an exciting, witty and suspenseful way that will keep you flipping pages until the end. Which is satisfying and will leave you craving more Liane Moriarty.

It’s hard to say too much about a book without giving away spoilers. But let me add that the protagonist is fun and relatable. This author is great at creating interesting characters that we want to learn more about. She is also a great writer and I have read most of her adult books at this point! If you haven’t read anything by her yet, I definitely recommend that you start with What Alice Forgot.
