These days, we all rely on so many incredibly useful apps. We use apps to communicate, shop, bank, lose weight, watch videos, listen to podcasts, the list goes on. These apps are all incredibly useful and it sometimes seems like we can’t live without them. But there are nearly three million apps on the Google Play store alone, and 2.2 million on the Apple App Store. There’s no way all of these are particularly useful. In fact, some of them are literally, utterly and completely useless. Here are 10 of them, along with some hilarious reviews. (Note: I’m an Android user so this will be very Google-heavy, but I have no doubt the App Store has similar apps.)
1. The Useless Button
Perhaps the quintessential useless app is the Useless Button. It’s exactly what it sounds like. You load it up and are greeted with a big red button that – you guessed it 0 is utterly useless. You can download it on the Google Play store here.

2. The Useless App
Another useless app that you can download here. I would make the argument, however, that it is not entirely useless, as it is intended to make you laugh. When you boot it up, you get a message warning you about the uselessness of the app. If you keep clicking it, the app scolds you for bothering to try to find hidden features.

3. The Useless Calculator
Next time you have a math test you are unprepared for, you can try the Useless Calculator. It intentionally gives incorrect answers. When you get everything wrong, you can blame the calculator! Grab it on Google Play here.

4. Useless
This app, succinctly titled “useless,” does nearly nothing at all. However, I would still argue that it isn’t useless because it makes the developer money. You get a small spiel about how useless the app is, then the confession that it’s not useless because of a small ad banner. If you want this for some reason, get it here

5. Useless App
Another appropriately named app. It’s a bit similar to the Useless Button in that it simply has an “On/Off” toggle that does absolutely nothing. It didn’t work well for me though; it only stayed on while I was holding the button in… You can get this useless waste of time here. Again, there’s an ad, so not technically useless.

6. An Object – Useless Game App
This app stretches the definition of useless. There’s a differents between useless and meaningless. A meaningless app is one that is useful for killing time but doesn’t have anything practical to offer. This app falls more into that category.
Tap the screen and you’ll get a random object. It even tallies the number of times you have tapped, in case you want to set a personal record! You can customize the rotation speed, toggle music on and off, and more. Again, it’s not particularly useless, but definitely meaningless. You can download it here I guess.

7. The Useless App Market
Looking for more useless apps? This one’s purpose is solely to send you to a random useless app on Google Play. Users complain that this is all it does, which is hilarious because it’s literally what it is designed for. I need three more to finish this list, so I’m gonna get it here to see where it takes us next!

8. Useless App
The Useless App Market took me to this one, another app simply called “Useless App.” It seems to only have a button to turn the app off, and one to turn on some kind of weird sound effect. Get it here!

9. Ultimately Useless Finger Finder
I was intrigued when the Useless App Market brought me here so I grabbed it right away. I was excited when I was greeted by the theme song from Sonic the Hedgehog, which must be some kind of copyright infringement… Anyway, all it does is tell you “You finger is here” with an arrow when you tap somewhere on the screen. To be honest, kind of impressive programming! Mess around with it here.

10. The Useless Game
Very confused about this game. First of all, it’s in German. Second of all, I don’t get how it works. There are two buttons that say “Hit Me” and it seems to save your score. I don’t know, if you can figure it out, let me know in the comments =P. Get it here!

Summary – Useless Apps
We use our phones for everything these days. Most apps we use serve some sort of function, but it’s pretty amazing how many of the 2+ million apps out there are, by design, totally useless. Any experience with other useless apps? Leave them in the comments below!
