Your typical advent calendars contain chocolate, which is great. It is scientifically proven that most people love chocolate. 91% of women and 87% of men eat chocolate. But chocolate advent calendars year after year get stale – literally, if you forget to eat them on time. Today there are many fun and unique advent calendars that make the countdown to Christmas more exciting than ever before!
1. Harry Potter
Children and adults all over the world are obsessed with Harry Potter. As long as we can forget about the politics revolving JK Rowling for just a minute, let’s dive into the magical world of Hogwarts. There is not one but several HP-themed advent calendars out there. Are we really that surprised?
Lego Potter
Of course there’s a Harry Potter Lego advent calendar! Enjoy collectible toys from the Hogwarts Yule Ball, Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire and more. Buy it here (#affiliate.)

Funko Pop
Countdown to Christmas with a line of Harry Potter-themed pocket Pop! Featuring the Wizarding World’s favorite witches, wizards, beasts, ghosts and house elves, this Harry Potter advent calendar promises a very jolly Christmas indeed, especially when paired with treacle tart and a mug of hot Butterbeer. Buy it here (#affiliate.)

There’s More…
Honestly, I could make an entire list of just Harry Potter advent calendars. Which would be cool, but for another time! Here are some others including socks, a Christmas-tree pop-up and a more traditional wall calendar.
2. Nips
Enjoy your favorite liquors and taste some that you have never tried before! This calendar is a fun gift for your boozy friends or perhaps a bartender? In some cultures they believe that a shot of alcohol can keep you healthy and fight of germs. Buy it on Etsy.

3. Jerky – Unique Advent Calendars
For those 13% of men who don’t like chocolate, Harry Potter or alcohol, consider giving them this Jerky Advent Calendar! If they are vegan, you can make your own by getting 24 samplers from FakeMeats.com, although I strongly suggest that they create their own vegan advent jerky calendar! Also yes, I know it’s sexist to pitch this to men. I’d devour a vegan jerky calendar and I’m a lady.

4. Makeup and Skin Care
If I hadn’t already ordered a bunch of beauty products via FabFitFun, I’d be super curious about this. Enjoy 24 days of clean beauty with these makeup and skin care products. This is also a great Christmas present although I’d probably buy it for myself!

5. Dog Treats
There are probably as many dog-themed advent calendars out there as there are Harry Potter ones… They have treat ones, toy ones and probably others if I kept researching!
6. Succulents
The world is obsessed with cute tiny plants that die if you breath on them wrong. Okay, I may be projecting just a little bit… anyway, of course a succulent advent calendar exists! Although if you ask me, the jerky and nips advent calendars are pretty succulent too 😉 The only downside is you have to create it yourself or buy a chocolate version instead.

7. Candles – Unique Advent Calendars
I am a candle fiend and if I didn’t already have 24 candles from Bath & Body Works, Spiral Light Candles and ForeverWick (yes, the ones with a diamond inside), then I’d be all over this advent set from Etsy.
8. Toolkit
The days when advent calendars were just for children are long gone. Lidl launched a toolkit advent calendar for DIY enthusiasts. The budget supermarket’s Powerfix Profi Tool Kit Advent Calendar boasts 36-pieces behind the traditional 24 festive countdown doors. Read more about it here.
9. Lingerie
When I said unique advent calendars to spice up Christmas, THIS is what I was talking about. Lingerie isn’t just a sexy piece of underclothing. It helps women feel confident and that is awesome. Buy yourself, a friend or significant other this fun advent calendar here.

10. Quirky Earrings
I saved the best for last! Yes, that is pure bias because this advent calendar is MINE! With only 20 available this holiday season, this advent calendar lets you wear a new pair of earrings every day for 23 days (one is a necklace!) Basically, every day will feel like Christmas!

Enjoy a mix of holiday-themed and Everyfelt’s best-selling pairs. If you wait until next Wednesday, you might receive it a day or two late but it’ll be 50% off! If you don’t like mystery earrings but want to shop around, check out Everyfelt today!
Summary: Unique Advent Calendars
Chocolate advent calendars are delicious, but they are just not exciting. 24 days of fancy underwear, earrings, jerky or succulents sound way more interesting! Fun fact before you leave: The origin of the Advent Calendar can be traced back to the 19th century. The first styles came from the protestant area. So religious families made a chalk line for every day in December until Christmas Eve. The first known Advent Calendar which was made by hand is from the year 1851. You can read more about that here!
