News! I opened an Etsy Store, Everyfelt

I have always been a jack of all trades and unfortunately, master of none. It used to embarrass me that I try to pursue so many different things at the same time without being great at any of them, but it’s time to embrace it! When I’m not obsessively filming my travels or writing, I’m crafting!

I have always been a jack of all trades and unfortunately, master of none. It used to embarrass me that I try to pursue so many different things at the same time without being great at any of them, but it’s time to embrace it! When I’m not obsessively filming my travels or writing, I’m crafting!

Most of my crafts consist of felt toys and learning props, dream catchers, jewelry and more recently decal stickers made with my new Cricut Explore Air 2!

I’ve actually wanted to open an Etsy store for a while now, but other than my felt creations, most of the things I make aren’t 100% original. It feels weird to buy pendants or resin flowers, potentially alter them and put them on hooks or chains and then sell them as my own.

Luckily, Etsy asks who made the product and you can say “another store”. This is what convinced me to put my stuff up. The resin floral earrings, which have been a favorite of mine lately take a lot of work and calluses.  It takes a lot of strength and precision to pierce a hole and figure out how to hang the flowers on hooks in an appealing way, so I’ve gotten over feeling like I’m cheating!

The other earrings or necklaces that I just put on a hook will be marketed exactly as that, made by others. Although let me tell you, it takes a while to put 1,770 pairs of pendants onto hooks… it took me five entire days to be exact! Because when I’m not selling on Etsy, I’m signing up for weekend markets with the help of my charming and bartering assistant, Isaac!

Please feel free to visit my store and check out what I make! If you have any ideas for simple felt toys that I can make and sell, please leave a comment below! I’m still working on my logo and adding the rest of my products. You can follow my progress on my Facebook page, by favoriting the store on Etsy and *drumroll* on my new website, Everyfelt.wordpress.com.

How to Wear Food-Themed Earrings? Part 2

Perhaps the most impressive earrings are also the hardest to wear. The egg looks like it’s about to ooze yellow goodness and the bacon even feels crispy! Outside of cooking class the only appropriate occasion I could fathom for wearing these scrumptious earrings was Sunday brunch…

Perhaps the most impressive earrings are also the hardest to wear. The egg looks like it’s about to ooze yellow goodness and the bacon even feels crispy! Outside of cooking class, the only appropriate occasion I could fathom for wearing these scrumptious earrings was Sunday brunch.

Forgoing my usual outfit that closely resembled my pajamas, I threw on some jeans and a white T-shirt – pretty much the outfit that Tyra Banks urges models to wear on their go-sees. Heels would have been cute if I didn’t live in the city of cobblestones (Prague) plus I’m the complete opposite of a contestant on America’s Next Top Model.

On their own, the single egg and lonely slice of bacon didn’t give the jewelry the justice it deserved. So I opted for an upgraded one earring look (two earrings in one ear!) To avoid a messy overlap I stuck a strawberry stud in between and voilà: gourmet breakfast in my ear.

To draw more focus to one side of my face, I attempted a Katniss-style sideways braid to balance out the look.

Pros: I managed to order my meal by pointing to my ear.

Cons: I couldn’t order pancakes, coffee or orange juice.

Mental note: make “one last” food-themed earring order.

How to Wear Food-Themed Earrings? Part 1

My second tasteful outfit consisted of rainbow lollipop earrings with a simple black dress. But I was quickly bored with wearing black so the two dozen pairs of earrings gathered dust while I brainstormed more colorful solutions…

My recent obsession with food-themed earrings resulted in numerous “just one more” purchases at potvor.cz. This Czech online store opened up a whole new world of accessories for me while presenting a unique challenge: how can I incorporate food-themed earrings into my daily life without alienating friends or getting fired?

Pink ice cream cone earrings were my first experiment. Fortunately, there is no dress code at my office and casual clothing is perfectly acceptable. Paired with a pink top and with black pants, the sweet earrings were a success.

My second tasteful outfit consisted of rainbow lollipop earrings with a simple black dress. But I was quickly bored with wearing black so the two dozen pairs of earrings gathered dust while I brainstormed more colorful solutions.

Several weeks without inspiration and my excitement for the delicious earrings fizzled, turning dress shopping into my new favorite pastime. That was when I discovered the perfect red and white stripy dress. Hoping to wear it to work I tried it on in the morning but realized that even with a plain sweater the dress was a bit too much for the casual environment at my office.

The solution came to me as I admired the red and white color-theme: Kinder Eggs! It had been against my better judgment that I order earrings that would make me crave chocolate every time I saw my reflection. But it was the mini Kinder Eggs saved my wardrobe crisis: they matched my outfit perfectly while dressing it down several notches.

Next challenge: bacon and egg earrings!

10 Most Bizarrely Awesome Food-Themed Earrings

For some reason, fruit seems to be the most “socially acceptable” food to wear as jewelry. Candy is also considered more or less “normal” although mini Kinder Eggs do take it a bit too far. But why does the concept of sausages dangling from your ears seem so crazy?

It is no wonder that food-themed fashion has made its way into our lives and onto many Pinterest boards.
