Move over Beyond Burger, Trader Joe’s Protein Patties are the best alternative meat product out there. These vegan patties only have 260 calories and 26 grams of protein and five grams of fiber. These are by no means a healthy food that should be consumed regularly. But they are delicious and a great treat for the occasional BBQ.

I may have eaten one for breakfast today, but don’t tell Noom. Just kidding, there’s no such thing as a bad food on Noom. But that’s a topic for an upcoming blog post. I’m here to rave about the Protein Patties!

Trader Joe’s has always had a great selection of mock meats and other vegan products. They have had veggie patties for ages and these taste delicious. The difference between their Hi-Protein Veggie Burger and these new Protein Patties is that the veggie burgers aren’t supposed to taste like meat. They actually have whole pieces of veggies in them and they don’t look or feel like anything resembling meat.

Protein Patties came out recently and they are a direct competitor to Beyond Meat, which Trader Joe’s has never sold in the first place. They are also similar to Impossible Burgers which you can now buy at a bunch of different fast food restaurants including Burger King.

These mock meat patties look like meat, smell like meat and, in my opinion, taste like meat. There are so many debates on the health concerns of mock meats and about the fact that these products don’t actually target vegan customers. I am not here to argue or discuss this, just to tell you that I love this new product.

Just like Beyond Meat, these patties look red and ‘bloody’ when they are raw. They have the same consistency of regular patties and they are a little thinner than Beyond. The only thing that I don’t like is that they have an unusual after taste.
