Hotel Living, Working & Etsy During COVID-19

Hotel living sounds like it should be amazing, at least to me. Why? Probably because I love travel and grew up watching Gossip Girl where Serena lives in a fancy hotel. Despite booking a cheap 2-star hotel for an eight-day stay while we finalized the paperwork to buy a new house, I was excited. Free…

A few days ago I read a blog post that listed some strange statistics. It claimed that 80% of people were so stressed to plan a trip that they would rather cancel it to avoid said stress. Now don’t get me wrong, I have felt stress while planning trips… but I’d like to share some…

When I picture a typical motorcycle rider, I imagine a big, muscular, tattooed man with a bushy beard and probably some piercings. Ichico breaks that stereotype and has been riding since she was just 22 years old. She went from getting a license for a middle class (~400cc) bike to racing 200km/h (125m/h) on the…

Camping on the Great Wall of China

It was three years ago that we went camping on the Great Wall of China. It is an experience that I think about often for two reasons, because: 1. It was a unique and once in a life time trip that was absolutely amazing. 2. It rained overnight and we were only able to actually…

Why I Didn’t Go to North Korea for $300

Three years ago I was living in Shanghai, China with my husband, Isaac. We are travel junkies and love to visit unique places like Chernobyl, Tibet and we really hope to visit Antarctica once it gets cheaper than $10,000 per person (or when we win the lottery). When looking into potential travel destinations in Asia back in 2016, I began…

Soi Cowboy Street in Bangkok Thailand

When to Visit the Top of the Rock Observatory

I have been to the Top of the Rock Observatory three times now. The first time I went was in February 2014. I don’t remember the day of the week but I know it was about an hour before it closed at 11 PM and it wasn’t too crowded. It was my first time in New York and I thoroughly enjoyed the view of endless lights made only more magical by a sprinkle of snow on the freezing night that I was grossly underdressed for…

This week started very with a training where I could be the co-driver for Lukas. This time, we took the smaller cart with eight dogs, because Birgit did also train and she took six dogs. Seeing Home Dried My Tears – Moving to Prague

Kicking and screaming on a cold winter’s day in 1996 was how I reacted when my parents first introduced me to Prague. The city looked no more appealing than an endless dark pit through my three-and-a-half-year-old eyes, and I feared that I would never stop falling. I missed Kiev and I cried through my several months at the Prague British School and then at a Czech School, and I didn’t stop until I walked through the doors of the rainbow-logoed International School of Prague in 1998. I became quiet as soon as I walked through the door, and left with a smile. I realized that I was finally home.

A Quick Trip to Vietnam… Without Leaving Prague

Anyone living in Prague today knows that this city is practically littered with Potravinys, Vecerkas and a variety of Vietnamese owned stores and restaurants. The Vietnamese began building a community here during the communist regime in the former Czechoslovakia: they worked in machine-building and light industries while students studied in technical fields, Czech literature, some…

Home in Hilo – Hawaii Travel

I didn’t know much about Hilo before coming here, but it didn’t take long to fall in love with it. The culture shock began on campus, where strangers said hello to me left and right and a friendly cleaning lady asked me to call her “Aunty.” Five weeks later the various aspects of the laidback nature of…
